NBA Accreditation

The National Board of Accreditation (NBA) is an Indian agency responsible for assessing the quality of technical programs offered by universities and institutions. Established in 1994, the NBA works to ensure these programs meet the standards set by regulatory bodies. Unlike the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) that focuses on general colleges and universities, the NBA’s area of expertise lies in technical fields like engineering, management, and pharmacy. Notably, the NBA is a full member of the Washington Accord, an international agreement that recognizes the equivalency of engineering degrees from signatory countries. This recognition signifies the high quality of education evaluated by the NBA.

Accreditation by the NBA is a mark of distinction for technical programs in India. It signifies that the program delivers a curriculum that is current, its faculty is well-qualified, and its students graduate with industry-ready skills. Earning NBA accreditation can give graduates a competitive edge in the job market, both domestically and internationally, as their degrees are recognized by the Washington Accord member countries. Institutions actively seek NBA accreditation to improve their programs and enhance their reputation. The accreditation process itself acts as a catalyst for continuous improvement, prompting institutions to identify areas for growth and implement effective strategies to strengthen their programs.
